Study Abroad Program

Globalization continues to play a pivotal role in business transactions and communication. Tomorrow's businesses will require global citizens who are able to compete in an increasingly globally interdependent society. In its quest for developing international mindedness and cultural sensitivity along with academic brilliance and sharp business acumen in its students, IILM has designed a unique Study Abroad programme for its students. The study abroad trip is a unique blend of academics and industry experience. As part of the programme, students shall be visiting UK, France and parts of Europe where they will visit our partner Universities, multinationals and interact with business leaders. The trip would also include guided tours, theatre, entertainment events to help students understand the art and culture of the country visited. One of the goals of the study abroad programme is to train future global leaders to be more effective, culturally aware and respectful of other political and economic systems.

The most important reality outcome of Study Abroad programme however is the Personal Development it offers. It impacts the participants' lives and perspectives in a very positive way. It not only serves as a foundation for global competencies but also changes their perspectives leading to mature choices about their careers and further higher education. The students are accompanied by faculty members as well as professional Tour Directors. Parents are advised to encourage their wards to register for the programme. The group size is limited to 30 only.

Study Abroad Trip to Singapore (The Lion City)

A melting pot of cultures diverse and dynamic, a business core that lies at the heart of South East Asia’s thriving economic and commercial lifes-blood: SINGAPORE!

IILM , Undergraduate School organized a successful visit to Singapore which included a blend of rich learning experiences, visits to Centers of Higher Education, interaction with Chamber of Commerce and exposure to Cosmopolitan Singapore: A land of many faces : A nexus of time and place where the old world meets new Asia.

Day One of the trip took us to MDIS (Management Development Institute of Singapore) Uni- Campus, founded in 1956, and one of Singapore’s largest private educational institution. The focus of MDIS is on offering multiple international curricula, through international partners including, University of Bradford, Grenoble, Edith Cowan(Australia), Oklohama University and others. The students were taken around the Campus and interacted with students from not only Management but also Media and Bio-technology. They were addressed by The Secretary General, MDIS, Dr.R Theyvendran on the cultural values of MDIS and study options at Masters level. The visit had been coordinated by Mr Shivajee, Country Manager, Business Development. For more pictures

Visit to SMU:

We visited the campus of Singapore Management University as part of the trip. Our students were impressed with the state-of-art infrastructure at SMU. The campus was alive with most non-academic activities like enquiries, workshops, extra-curricular activities being managed by the student body itself. This was reflected in vibrant notice boards, small student kiosks and proved to a key take-away for IILM students.

Interaction at SICCI:

The students were exposed to a rare learning opportunity through a session with SICCI (Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry). SICCI is an 84 year-old organization structured as a paramount focal point providing solutions ranging from Capability Development, Business Promotion, Advisory and Business Promotion Services. The students interacted with Mr Sodhi, Senior Manager at SICCI for over an hour. They queried on business opportunities at Singapore and legal/trade angle of business propositions. Mr Nirmal Sodhi also shared relevant information on the growth of the Singapore economy and business opportunities therein.

Meeting with APCME:

The faculty met the Directors of APCME and explored possibilities of student exchange and collaborative initiatives via NUS.

Visit to Chinese Gem Manufacturing and Stone Cutting Industry:

A perfect example of the co-existence of the old with the new. While the students visit to the local Business centre housing over 200 banks and offices helped them learn about the modern face of Singapore, our visit to the traditional stone cutting and gem industry helped the students realize the significance of preserving small-scale handicraft industry as  a major tourist attraction. Singapore is home to a vibrant, multicultural population of Chinese, Malays, Indians and other races. Almost 5 million people populate the small tropical enclave that is an island, a city, and a state. Students enjoyed a City Tour to the main historical sites in Singapore. The leveraging of Tourism as a major contributor to the growth of the Singapore economy was evident during our visit to The Orchid Garden, Night Safari and Sentosa Island.

The trip was scheduled from the 5th of April to the 11th of April, 2010 and proved indeed to be a rare and exciting learning opportunity.
